Failure

Failure can get to you.

Catch hope in it’s balls and squash all life out of it.

It takes over and reigns more quickly and strongly than success does.

Success is short lived while failure is a debt u can never really pay off. U carry it like ure shadow. A little light and it may go fr a bit but not forever.

And it can hit at anytime, unannounced no matter how hard you try to evade it.

A meal going wrong, a loved ones illness, ending of relationships,no work too look forward to, the list is endless.

The disappointment one feels towards oneself is far more demeaning than the success others see.

It’s easy to stand outside and say “oh what a wonderful life they lead.” Or “what do they not have?” True. But you aren’t standing in those shoes which seem to be biting into heels and bruising the soul.

Feet not strongly planted on the ground to hold an entire body of defeat. But pained, hurt and exhausted .

Years of telling yourself “it’ll get better. “This year its all going to change.” “Finally it’s your time.”

Honestly “what time?” If it hasn’t come in years and years obviously the watch is outta whack.

Don’t advise to change the battery, not in the watch nor the person.

People who are hardworking, unfortunately talented, yes unfortunately. For some or rather many, talent is a bane not a boon when it doesn’t get you anywhere. But still they don’t stop at what hasn’t worked but try new stuff. And work very hard on it. But luck, that bitch turns her face away each time.

Success isn’t the same for everyone. It’s not fame, name, money, cars, big houses and popularity.

It’s just reaping what they have sowed. Basic manifestation and translation of what ones worked hard for, appreciated for and yet no result is failure.

Quotes saying “love yourself.” “Todays pain won’t last forever.” “Tomorrow is a new day.”All crap.

I loved these lines, And I’ve said it to many “Sad soul take comfort, do not forget, sunrise never failed you yet.”

All very good. And easy to parrot.

But what if the burden of defeat is so strong on the lids of hope you just don’t want to open your eyes to sunshine.

  3. Further to my earlier response I remember a quote by Denis Watley “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.”
Like your observation, one has gone through failures but the ability to rise out of a phoenix is the character which keeps us going.
Contentment, which we Indians “believed in once” should be at the forefront and failures become a non-entity.
I will finish with another quote, “great success depends on great risk, and failure is simply a common byproduct.”

  4. “burden of defeat is so strong on the lids of hope” – I liked the articulation.
Also, “unfortunately talented, yes unfortunately. For some or rather many, talent is a bane not a boon when it doesn’t get you anywhere.” – a different angle for talent.

I feel Aupam Kher is one guy who has a lot of Talent, but still did not get the deserved Limelight, but still managed to find ways to express his Talent.I think he focused on doing more roles, different roles and kept enjoying the process. Kind of PeacefulWarrior.
