Waving flag!!!!
I’m listening to one of favourite songs ” Waving flag”driving to the nation of art!One of the most prominent landmarks in Bombay, one that the city gets recognised by.
A Mecca for art lovers, painters, aspiring artists, masters.A haven of exploration and discoveries. As rich outside,on the pavements,as it is inside.
Like many others I have visited it on several occasions, even without an occasion. Infact going there was an occasion by itself. I have spent hours watching,in awe, numerous artists work, wondering, what makes them create what they do.And how do they do it?!
Once just for kicks, I asked about the procedure,if one wanted to hold a paintings exhbition here. I was told “Either you are sooooooo good, your work gets invited,Or,you can put in an application.”
Invited???? Well that was a bleak option for someone like me, I had just started painting. But application ,That sounded simple…. And then I asked, what is the earliest opening that could be available for such an applicant? And very calmly I was told “The earliest,2018” I fell down………!!!!!! On the street, that holds many such aspirational artists as myself, who may only be happy, exhibiting their art, out on the pavement.
I wrapped my aspirations and my dreams and tucked them deep inside me and poured them out on some canvases, which I thought, would probably never see the light of day.
But today ,here I am,actually exhibiting my paintings, along with some masters works,in a group exhibition, held by Art for concern foundation,at this very same place, for the next 3 days.
Today I will walk in tall, not just to see other artists magic.
But my own paintings, will be hoisted and will hold fort on these walls.
And I hum the anthem along…
“When I get older, I will be stronger, they’ll call freedom, just like the waving flag!!!!”
Today I exhibit at the JEHANGIR ART GALLERY!!!!!!
You go girl. So proud. Woot Woot!
