Things I’ve learnt.

Share this:

I have learnt a lot in these 2 months beside sculpture, life drawing, installation and painting. Ola(hello!),Vamanos(hurry.),Gracias (thank you.) and Adios(goodbye.)

No I’m not talking about Taking a course in an absolutely different field, or being alone in a foreign country, exploring, soul searching rediscovering oneself ….. Na,That’s Overrated!!!

There are a lot more important things I have learnt. These are a few-

1. If I really try hard I can manage to squeeze in to 2 thermals under a tight pair of jeans.

2. I have an alternate career option. I can be a cleaner or a house keeper. I’m Very very good at it.

3. There’s a difference between the hair line and forehead Which I realised when I coloured my forehead whilst trying to colour my hair.(salon is too expensive.)

4. Most grocery stores in Spain are owned by Pakistanis and if you talk in Hindi you get one garlic pod free.

5. The art of sleeping with my eyes open.(in history class.)

6. Sharing stories with women you have just met is very easy. We are similar, more than one might think,no matter which continent we belong to.

7. Carrying 5kg backpacks definitely gives you spondylitis.

8. No matter how much I shake my foot due to boredom it doesn’t fall off.

9. Traffic stops to let you cross but the pegions, you have to let them pass or be ready for a really dirty look from them.

10.Sweater put into the washing machine will shrink no matter which program you use.

11. Kid’s traveling turns parents into tech savy people.( me and my parents have become ardent fans of Vdo calling.)

12. Sometimes google map is stupid. It makes you rotate 360degrees on your axis and doesn’t help you take one step towards your destination.

13. When traveling it’s pointless carrying more than two pairs of shoes. You only live in sneakers and flip flops.

14. The more extensive your vocabulary with difficult words the more intelligent you sound.

15. You don’t have the luxury of falling sick abroad you’d rather die than go to a hospital. And if you do go to a doctor the fees will kill you,not your ailment.

16. When abroad you land up eating more Indian food than in India.

17. Alone time is great but it can also result in not so welcome loneliness.

18. There’s no place like home, your family, your friends and your own country to give you that sense of security.

19. The best part of these 2 months has been my weekends with my kids. Priceless. No doubt my life revolves around them.

20. Even though I allready had a overused passport. Now I can proudly say I am a global citizen.
