I love the rains

It’s my favourite time of the year. It’s romantic to say the least. Watching lightning still humbles me. The sheer magnificence of it and the force in thunder. Lighting the sky ablaze with light and sound. It’s spectacular. It’s a vision.

It humbles me. Nature humbles me.

We are so small in front of this exalted majesty. And when it’s fury unleashes it belittles is into nothingness. The power of nature is unparalleled, unmatched and unrivalled.

Just a warning of cyclone. The word itself holds so much power it makes you realise how insignificant you would be under it’s wrath.

We are all preparing for a situation most of us haven’t seen.

Well this year has been first of many. No one thought we’d be hit by a pandemic, murder hornets, locusts, cyclone. Next what? Zombies!!! I wouldn’t be surprised.

While I tie up the trees, move in the chairs, move all objects inside. Humans, to furniture to my precious little ones. Filled water, removed the candles which finally will have more use than just beauty, pulled out the foams and lined the window sills to soak the onslaught of heavy rains…..

Ofcourse my son says nothing is gonna happen. And I hope so too. But then nothing like what has happened this year was to happen ever.

Sometimes it’s in best interest to accept you’re littleness and protect yourself rather than challenge the force of what stands way way above you. It’s important to how down in all humility and do our best to survive.

I can feel safe in my home and yet the thought that many won’t be safe is disturbing. And I pray, just pray like this year has taught us to “please no more. Please spare all of us and keep us safe. Please.”

  3. So well said Shefali. We need to be humble in front of nature, the beauty offered to us in bundle and refrain from abusing. Painful how we pretend to be all powerful, ignoring the divine force of nature.
