My pretty pink feet.
Not every woman is blessed with Rapunzel’s hair. Noor Jahan’s Flawless skin. Naomi Campbell’s body or height. Or Cleopatra’s beauty. And even if she is she may still lack self belief. Maybe Cleopatra realised how beautiful she was only when Taylor played her.But please know there’s a lot of effort and time and a battalion of people who work at beautifying these people.
And most of us don’t have that army of saviours, neither the time to indulge in such pampering.
Of course we can find concealers and corsettes, but the point is to be naturally beautiful without having to put in any effort or falsies.
At least for me,I hate makeup,I hate dressing up(yes I’m in the wrong profession.) And I have no patience to doll up. I want a clean scrubbed face, loose clothes, wind swept hair which is mostly tied up in a mess and flats in my feet. But that look is not synonymous to that of a Diva!
Most women feel they fall short, physically or on some account or the other. Some wish they had better hair, and others wish they had lovely skin. Most of them wish they were thin, that’s an universal wish that tops the list. And some wish they were taller.
I am no exception. I am vertically challenged. Not as tall as I would’ve liked to be,but then there are vertigo heels which raise me higher.I don’t have perfect statistics,Spanx tries but doesn’t always succeed. I’m not balding thank god but my hair isn’t lustrous thanks to my stupid hair raising experiments. And I have dark circles,a part and parcel of being an insomniac.(which can be covered with oversized glares thank god.)
Well this isn’t just about me. It’s about all of us. It’s very easy to find faults in ourselves,so easy that even our visible attributes get overlooked by us. Self deprecation is one of my assets. Well at least I can laugh at myself.
But jokes apart I am sure we all can find something beautiful in our selves if we decide to look. Everyone is definitely blessed with one or the other beautiful physical attribute, besides a thousand wonderful and unique characteristics only we own.
For some it may be hair. If u have good manageable low maintenance hair, then WOW! You can toss and turn it around, not spend endless hours in a salon and cover your hormone hit pimply face with your locks to add the mysterious look.
If you have clear radiant skin then no need for beauty plus.
If you have a beautiful body then you can wear a pair of Simpson pyjamas and look like you are walking the ramp.
If you have a gorgeous face then you could wear a tent and a beanie and still turn heads.
If you have great height then you can just look down on people.
These are the obvious and I’m unfortunately not blessed with any,so Im trying to appreciate small details that make me feel beauteous.
My eyes for one. (Not in the mornings, in the mornings I have toad eyes.)My hands (when they’re not stained with paint and multiple pen trials.) My feet. Yes my feet. Only if I could pass them off as my face.
Hmmmm let’s see what more???? I’m at loss for imagination.
The point is everyone has something beautiful hidden in them it only has to be explored.
If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. You,are the beholder and yourself you should behold.
The world can go take a walk with their parameters of beauty down the ramp, while I walk tall in a vegetable market or a stand que! With my pretty pink feet!

Wonderfully said. We all have those days. I’ve gone pass it. Being a mum brings the best out in all of us. It’s nice to be proud and say “ I’ve a great family, beautiful home rather than concentrating on something that is not important !! Love 💖 ur write ups !! X

Bravo Shefali. It’s very important to share our thoughts. Wot u said are the facts. I guess the more u accept yourself with flaws, the more graceful u r n the more u would walk tall with your chin up.

So simple and yet so beautiful…. So difficult but so important for every woman to accept oneself instead of comparing to the others where we miss to shine in our own inner beauty.
